Learning Ally Honors Its Best and Brightest with National Achievement Awards

Learning Ally, a national nonprofit organization serving 250,000 individuals with learning differences, visual impairment and reading disabilities, will honor six remarkable students on February 27 at its 52nd annual National Achievement Awards celebration in the nation’s capital.

Sony Apologize for Price

Sony Music, the American subsidiary of Japanese technology giant Sony Corp., appears to have settled the furor surrounding the pricing of two Whitney Houston albums available on Apple iTunes.

Sony, who are the world’s second largest record company, have apologised in a statement issued to BBC news, saying that the albums were immediately corrected after the company discovered that they had been mistakenly priced and both have returned to their original price.

Teen Cell Phone Use on the Rise in 2011, OnlineSchools Infographic Reveals

OnlineSchools, a digital resource for online education from kindergarten to graduate school, recently launched Generation Text, an in-depth look at mobile phone usage among teens. Analysis of Neilsen’s study, ?New Mobile Obsession: U.S. Teens Triple Data Usage, shows that teens exchange an average of 3,417 text messages per month, more than any other age group tracked. Comparing data from 2010 and 2011, the infographic also discusses the average monthly data usage between males and females.

One of the standout data points from this study was the quantity of mobile messages being exchanged. On average, teens surveyed are sending around seven text messages per hour, shared Seth Restaino, OnlineSchools.com spokesperson. Sadly, what this study does not show is that teen texting has been linked to other unhealthy behaviors, such as texting while driving. Read more…

Announcing the Real or Onion iPhone App

The truth is often stranger than fiction. No publication captures that better than the satirical newspaper The Onion, which serves up ridiculous articles that many people confuse with reality. Today, the online publication GelfMagazine with licensing from The Onion – announces the launch of the Real Or Onion iPhone app. The mobile app is available in the app store for $ 0.99. A free ‘lite’ version of the app is available as well.

BlueVolt set another record for the number of new learners added to its Learning Management System (LMS) in a single quarter with 23,357 new users. This is a 25% increase over new users added in the third quarter and a 132% increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2010. In addition, 1,338 new online courses were added to the BlueVolt LMS, bringing the total number of courses available to 20,940.

BlueVolt also launched online Universities for two new customers in the fourth quarter: Nation Wide Local Contractors and Home Provider Network. BlueVolt’s online Universities provide a central hub for a company’s online training efforts and make it easy to train, track and reward participants. Read more…

Big Ben Parliament Creations Working With Authors Hollie Moor and Paige Silsbee On A New iBook

Big Ben Parliament Creations is working with authors Hollie Moor and Paige Silsbee, on their latest iBook, iPhone and iPad app, Once Upon A Time…There was Snow White due to be released later this Spring.

BBP Creations is working with both authors on their adaptation of the Brother’s Grimm fairytale Snow White. Moor and Silsbee currently reside in Reno, Nevada, with Moor splitting her time between the States and the UK. While Moor has worked independently as a writer for years this is her first of two, soon to be, published children’s book with BBP Creations. A second children’s book will be released later this fall. This is Silsbee’s first children’s book as well, but is currently writing a novel. I’m excited to be working with Hollie on this children’s book and reaching out to so many through this new medium of story telling. The iBook is revolutionizing the way children will learn for years to come. It is allowing for us to think more 3 dimensionally when we write knowing that the writing will affect the illustrations and the illustrations will allow for us to create an interactive world that regular books cannot achieve, stated Silsbee.
